Let us introduce ourselves. We are the new sound of old school music. We are
"STAYING
BLACK".
This music entity and concept was created by David M. Kirkendall and David R. Zabalza.
We
met each other when we first attended Clyde L. Fisher Middle School in the East Side of San Jose, California, in the 1971-72
school year.
We are still best friends and still pursuing our music and the dream of music, but in a whole
new way.
We grew up listening to groups like; Earth Wind and Fire, War, Isley Brothers,
Heat Wave, Blue Magic, Ohio Players, The Whispers, Commodores, Brick, Frankie Beverly and Maze, Kool & the Gang, Stevie
Wonder, and the list is literally endless.
But the point we are making is this; Old School R & B music
is what we grew up listening to and the sound that we love to hear.
R & B music has always had and been the black
sound. And over the years the black community has become the pop culture, and the center of pop music.
In furthering that momentum we are trying to be a small part of the pop culture and the pop music growth.
Since
we are musicians, we will do are part to help keep the new pop music, black.
That is why our music is STAYING
BLACK".
